A Mother

Good morning dear friends.  Hope you are all surviving the snow. I keep telling myself it is winter - expect the cold!!!  Doesn't mean I have to like it though!!

My Card

Recipe
Pearlescent card - from stash
Spellbinders Labels 4
Memory Box Tessatina Border
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Offray Ribbon
Pearls from stash
Sentiment- Quietfire Designs.

I made a centre step card from a piece of yellow pearlescent cardstock 11" x 5.5" I really love these centre step cards and they are so easy to make.  I actually checked out the step card die because you also get dies for matting and layering but it was so small I decided not to bother.

This card is for my nephew to give to his mum.  Not sure whether it is for Mother's Day, or "just because".  I really love this sentiment stamp from Quietfire Designs; in fact I think I  love all their sentiment stamps. I have quite a few so I need to use them more often.

Take care!

Get Creative Challenges # 7: Bingo Board

Good morning and I hope it finds you all well.  Here I am for the second day in a row.  This time it is to show my DT card for the pink team of Get Creative Challenges . Our challenge was to use the bingo board, which you will see further down my post.  I have only ever played a bingo board using three options, so I certainly found five items a challenge, but one which I really enjoyed.  It is good to push oneself at times.

Our sponsor this time is Rick St Dennis and my card uses one of the Shady Lady images - Rose Thorn.  For the last few days I have been singing the song by Dean Martin from when I was a little girl in the fifties - "The Naughty Lady Of Shady Lane".  Since I only know a few lines John is getting a bit fed up with it ... lol!

My Card

Recipe
Digi image - Rick St Dennis
7" square card - Anne Marie Designs
Main backing paper -LOTV Snow Princess
The smaller piece is from a DCWV pad (years old!)
The dark purple pearlescent card is Cracked Ice - Pennies Worth

Elegant Labels 4 - Spellbinders
Fabulous Phlox - Memory Box
Lace - from Stash (coloured with Promarkers)
Pearls - the Hobby House
The tiny silver sticker dots are ancient stash!!
Image colored with Promarkers

As you will see from the bingo board below I used the vertical row on the right.  A purple creation for the second day running.  Just as well purple and all its' shades are my favourite colour.

The prize is 2 Rick St Dennis images of your choice, or a 25% off coupon for his shop. so please do join us this time.

OSAAT Challenge # 229 Anything Goes .... With Purple

Good afternoon dear friends and fellow crafters.   Oh boy, I'm getting a bit tired of being cold all the time but it is winter after all and there is still time for worse weather.  Let's hope not though.  Anyway, I hope you are all okay and keeping warm.  Good excuse to keep crafting.

Today it is time for the  OSAAT challenge Anything Goes .... With Purple.  I love purple so it wasn't a hardship for me.  My image is Window Shopping by Stitchy Stamps which you can find at our sponsor Stitchy Bear Digital Outlet

My Project

Recipe
X Cut - Gift Bag die
Spellbinders - Labels 10
Memory Box - Catalina Wreath
Wild Orchid Crafts - flowers
Hobby House - pearls
Image coloured with Promarkers

Instead of a card I elected to use my new die and make a gift bag.  Hazel  (Hazels Baskets of Joy)  has been making gift bags with this die for so long now and I have always admired them so I decided to succumb and buy the die.  I keep saying I have enough dies - but then always find another one that I really need!  And how many of us do that!!!!

I do hope you will decide to play along with us this time.  This is the prize pack you have a chance to win and it is a great prize.

Before I go I just wanted to say that I have been having problems with my computer.  It crashed a couple of days ago and I lost some settings. I have been looking at all your blogs but have been unable to publish any comments.  Fortunately John has sussed it out again and I am up and running so watch out for my comments!

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

With Much Love

Good morning to you all.  Well the snow has gone again so hope it stays away for a while.  I shouldn't  really grumble because it hasn't been too bad - yet! It was a bit hairy on my way into town yesterday morning when I was going to the hairdressers but it started to rain late afternoon. Let's hope it doesn't freeze on top of that.

I have been playing around with some new techniques (nothing to show for it yet!) and I had quite a few dies out on my desk so I thought I would put some of them together and make a card.

My Card

Recipe
Spellbinders - Radiant Rectangles
Opulent Ovals
Parisian Accents
Standard Circles
Couture Creations - Tied Together Embossing Folder
Little Claire - Sentiment Stamp
Pennies Worth - Blue pearlescent cardstock
Offray Ribbon
Pearls from stash

I started by making a 5" x 7" tent fold card. And then just layered up the various diecuts as you can see.  I added some pale blue and white pearls and cut up a pearly spray. I added a flower pearl to the bow and that was it.  The bow looks a bit odd but that's because I realise I have cropped the image too much and chopped off part of the bow.

So that's one for the box, which needs topping up again since I gave my sister quite a few at Christmas.  I also need to make some male cards - ad won't that be fun ... lol!

Hope this finds you all well and keeping warm and safe.

Christmas Card Club Challenge # 2

Good morning to you all on this very cold and frosty day.  We have been lucky so far with very little snow here, but I hope the Scottish Posse, as Ang calls you, are managing to get around safely if you need to.

Time for another card for the Christmas Card Club.  It was my turn to host the challenge this time and I wanted to see something which reflected the true meaning of Christmas.  I love cute cards as much as anyone, ( I certainly make plenty as you know) but I think the true meaning tends to get lost amongst all the hype and commercialism.

My Card

I decided to make a CAS card using a digi image from Floppy Latte.  I chopped it down a little and changed the sentiment to one I computer generated.  As you can see it was just matted onto some black card before attaching to the base card.  Simple but effective.

Hope everybody is well and enjoying the weekend.

OSAAT Challenge # 228 - Something New

Good day to you all and thanks for dropping by.  My card today is my DT card for the One Stitch At A Time  challenge.  The theme is "Something New".  Now this can be new baby, new house etc or just using something new, which is what I have chosen to do.  My "something new" is my Lattice Heart Striplet die from Sue Wilson.  I actually got it at the NEC in November but since this is the first time it has seen daylight I consider that it definitely counts.  The image I have used is "Clowning Around" by BB Kakes which is available from our sponsor  Stitchy Bear Digital Stamp Outlet

My Card

Recipe
7" x 7" base card - Anne Marie Designs
Design paper - Nitwits Pastel Dreams from LOTV
Raspberry Bazzill Basics - from stash
Squares - Spellbinders
Lattice Heart Striplet - Sue Wilson
Paper flowers and pearls - from stash
Promarkers
Computer generated sentiment.

I decided to keep it fairly simple and also flat - good for posting!  The flash seems to have leeched all the colour out of the picture so I will attempt to correct it or try taking another picture without flash. Unfortunately the days are so dark that flash seems the only option. The turquoise pearls look cream here.

We would love it if you could enter our challenge.  This is the prize you could win - so why are you hanging about?

Ruby Wedding Gift Box and Card

Good morning friends and fellow bloggers.   One of the ladies at WI asked if I could make her a box to hold money, which was to be the gift to her parents for their ruby wedding.  And of course their had to be a matching card. This is what I came up with.

My Gift Box

The box measures 16 cms x 9cms x 2cms, which is just slightly larger than a £20 note.

Recipe
White double sided centura pearl card - Crafters Companion
Dark red cardstock - from stash
Flowers - Wild Orchid Crafts
Lace with pearls - local haberdashery shop
Flat backed pearl string and  other pearls from stash
Faux Quilled Leaves - Sue Wilson
Diamond Strips and Accents - Spellbinders

My Card

(Never photographs well from this angle but it gives a better view of the diecuts.)

Recipe
Base Card - 7"x 5" stepper card Papermania
Dark red card - from stash
Diamond Strips and Accents - Spellbinders
Resplendent Rectangles - Spellbinders
Marvellous Squares - Spellbinders
Swan diecut - Nellie Snellen Hearts Dies
Pearls from stash
Computer generated sentiment

The card didn't take long to make because it is very similar to one I made a couple of years ago.  The  reason I am showing it is so that you can see how the card and gift box tie in together.

Fortunately the lady concerned loved the matching pair! Phew!  It's always a relief to hear that.

Hope this finds you all well and getting back to some form of normality - whatever that might be!!!!

Christmas Card Challenge # 1 - very late!!

Belated Happy New Year to everybody!   I cannot believe that it is already January 7th and this is the first time I have been on Blogger since before Christmas!  Wow.  This card was due last Sunday but foe some reason I thought it was next weekend.  Since we had visitors all weekend it was not possible to get anything done.   This time it was Carol's choice and she choose - CAS using red, green and white.  Now that was lucky because it made it a very quick card to make.

My Card

Recipe
A6 white base card
Green and red card from stash
Green tree die cuts - very ancient pieces from stash, at least 10 years old!
SB Dainty Dots embossing folder.

Well now that things seem to be getting back to normal again (hopefully) I shall get back to blogging again and will be visiting your blogs later.
